GCSE Results 2017
There were some outstanding individual performances when students at King Edward VII Academy opened their GCSE results envelopes this morning.
It was wonderful to see many smiling faces as Year 11 celebrated their successes with many now staying on to study in the academy’s Sixth Form.
45% of students achieved Grade 9-4 in English and Maths.
Top performing student, Aaron Butler, opening his results on his 16th birthday, was delighted to receive a 9 in English Language, 8 in both English Literature and Maths and a further five A* and one A grade. Aaron said, “Quite simply I was over the moon and surprised. In honesty I did expect good results but not to such an extent”. Aaron is staying at KES Academy to study A levels and then aims to do History and International Relations at Cambridge University.
Adonia Ganea achieved two A*, five A’s, a C and Grade 7 in Maths and English said, “I felt extremely shocked at first, I’d never have guessed I’d have done as well as this. All I can say is the stress and worries were worth it”.
Alicia Backham gained five A*, three A’s, three B’s and three C’s said “I am really excited to get good results and really looking forward to continuing in to 6th Form at KES and then on to University. My hard work has paid off!”
Harry Williamson said “I was amazed and so happy with the results I gained. With these I have been offered a place at Welbeck DSFC with an Army Scholarship.”
Head of School, Lloyd Brown said “My congratulations to our students in achieving their GCSE successes. We are looking forward to working with many of them who are returning to KES next year to study for A Levels.”
