KES Academy recognises achievement at Presentation Evening

Students, staff, parents and invited guests joined in celebrating the academic achievements of learners, on Monday 18th December, at the annual KES Academy Presentation Evening.

Students were given certificates for their efforts in GCSE and GCE A-levels, and numerous academic subject prizes were awarded.

Some notable awards were the Hamilton Memorial prizes for good GCSE results, which went to Zoe Addison, Mitchell Crown, Kristine Kulikova, Meghan Martin-Lewis and Zhouyang Xu. The Rotary Club of King’s Lynn’s Prize for Community Service went to Amber Smalley and the Mayor’s Prize went to Belinda Clark.

The winner of Her Majesty The Queen’s Gold Medal this year, went to Owen Dewey for achieving the top A-level results at KES Academy for 2017. Owen is now studying combined Honours in English Literature and History at Newcastle University.  Owen will be personally presented with his Gold Medal by Her Majesty in January.

The guest speaker for the evening was Marcus Rich, CEO of Time Inc UK and a former KES pupil who gave an inspiring talk to those students and families in attendance, he even showed us his old school report illustrating how far he had come!  Mr Rich and the Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, Cllr Carol Bower joined Principal Lloyd Brown in presenting certificates to the well-deserving students from 2016-17 academic year.

Mr Brown said: “It was wonderful to recognise the achievements of our students, past and present, at our Celebration Evening last night.  My thanks go to everyone, students, staff, parents and other visitors who helped make it such a great event.”
