KES Academy Students give at Christmas

KES Academy sixth form students got into the spirit of giving at Christmas by collecting bags of sugar for The Sugar Appeal, organised by The Buckingham Food Appeal (BEFA) which is a Norfolk based Registered Charity, started by farmer Mike Buckingham and run by the Purfleet Trust in King’s Lynn.

This year they are celebrating 30 years of School Sugar collection.  The charity supports shelters for the homeless and families in crisis to provide vital energy in food and hot drinks.  Each Christmas, the charity collects sugar to distribute to shelters across Norfolk and Suffolk over the winter period, with every donation being matched by British Sugar.

This year KES Academy Sixth Form students collected 280kg of sugar along with canned food and biscuits.  Thanks go to all who donated and to Morrisons Supermarket (King’s Lynn) who kindly donated 40kg and to Tesco Gaywood who gave a donation.

A special thank you go to Miss Jody Walters and her form (pictured) who worked really hard to achieve this total.
