Welcome to Year 7

Welcome to King Edward VII Academy Year 7

Dear parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to King Edward VII Academy. Following on from two outstanding days of transition, I just wanted to contact you to continue the positive start your child has made at King Edward VII Academy. I have spoken to many members of staff, who have all said how pleasant and hard working the students were.

I would like to reiterate how proud you should be of your child after the transition days, not only a challenge for them, but one they have passed with flying colours.

The challenge for Year 7 is clear. Things will be different as you and your child are taking the next step on their journey through education. At the centre of everything we do will be the mantra “exceptional progress for every student. Over the course of your time with us, please encourage your child to be the best that they can be in order that we can all help them to achieve their potential. We are looking forward to the challenge of providing your child with the best possible start to that journey.

Please ensure that your child is fully equipped and ready to learn. Again you will find some useful suggestions in our guide to new students’ information on our website.

Best of me and student learning passport

Please ensure that your child has completed their best of me folders and their student learning passports, ready to hand to their progress mentors on their first day with us. There is full guidance on how to complete these on our website.

Summer school

Our transition summer school will take place 29th and 30th August 2018, 09.30am-15.00pm. The aim is for students to have additional time to get used to their new Academy, have fun, prepare for the new term, as well as meet new students from other primary schools and to begin familiarising with staff. Summer School will consist of fun activities each day, based around a number of subjects that they will study in Year 7. It will provide a great opportunity to boost your child’s learning and confidence during the summer holiday, as well as an additional chance for them to feel comfortable in what will be their new learning environment from Thursday 6th September 2018.
